Pay My Library Bills?

You may pay bills at any library in the system. At this time, we only accept cash or checks. The library may bill a library account for several situations, including overdue items, lost or damaged items, interlibrary loans, audiovisual items returned to an outside book drop, etc. Your borrowing privileges are suspended if you keep an item past its due date or have charges on your account exceeding $3.00.

Replacement Card: Your first library card/key tag is free. There is a $1.00 charge for replacements.

Overdues: A $0.10 per day overdue fine is added to your account for each item returned seven (7) days past the due date. This charge is not billed to your account if you are a Kanawha County resident over the age of sixty (60). An overdue notice is sent when the item is ten (10) days past due. If the item is still overdue at twenty (20) days overdue, a bill for the total replacement cost (this includes the processing fee) of the item will be added to your account and a second notice will be sent to you. If an item has not been paid for or returned at forty-five (45) days overdue, the account will be sent to a materials recovery service and an additional non-refundable fee of $15.00 is added to your account.

Audiovisual Items: A $1.00 bill is added to your account for each audiovisual item returned in an outside standalone book drop.

Lost Items: The total cost (including a processing fee) is assessed for each item lost.

Damaged Items: Bills for damaged items depend on the extent of the damage or for missing pieces that belong to that item.

Interlibrary Loans: Loans of items from non-system libraries may result in postage fees in some situations.
